本片原聲配樂(lè)由Jan A.P. Kaczmarek作曲。影片改編自發(fā)生在日本的真實(shí)故事，1987年曾被搬上銀幕，由仲代達(dá)矢主演、取名《忠犬八公物語(yǔ)》大獲成功。美版由《濃情巧克力》、《狗臉的歲月》導(dǎo)演萊塞·霍爾斯道姆執(zhí) 導(dǎo)，故事講述理查·基爾飾演的大學(xué)教授收養(yǎng)了一只小秋田犬，取名“八公”（理查·基爾在電影中用日語(yǔ)發(fā)音呼喚“八公”），之后的每天，八公早上將教授送到 車站，傍晚等待教授一起回家。不幸的是，教授因病辭世，再也沒(méi)有回到車站，然而八公在之后的9年時(shí)間里依然每天按時(shí)在車站等待，直到最后死去.
